The official DGT fee, paid during the second step of the process.
The total cost is 150€ plus the official DGT tasa of 28.87€. The medical examination (psicotécnico) is arranged by you and paid separately at the medical centre.
How it works
A clear path from questions to submission
- 01
Registration with the DGT
We register your exchange on the DGT website and wait for their email confirming the next step. While we wait, you complete the medical examination (psicotécnico).
- 02
Second step: uploads and fee
After around two weeks on average, DGT sends the email for the second step. Your passport, residence card and license are uploaded, your medical must already be done, and the tasa of €28.87 is paid.
- 03
Hand in your old license
After roughly 2–4 more weeks, DGT emails you to bring your license to the office — no appointment needed. They keep your old license and issue a temporary permit so you can keep driving.
- 04
Delivery of your Spanish license
After 3–4 weeks, your new Spanish driving license is delivered to your address.
