How Spanish income tax works
Tax residents (generally anyone spending more than 183 days a year in Spain) pay IRPF on worldwide income. The rate is progressive and split in two halves: a state scale and a regional scale, which is why your region changes your bill. Social security is deducted first, then work-related allowances and the personal allowance of €5,550 (more if you are 65+), plus family allowances of €2,400, €2,700, €4,000 and €4,500 for the first, second, third and each further child.
Self-employed workers (autónomos) pay a monthly social security quota based on their real net earnings, across 15 income bands.
Important
This calculator gives an estimate only and is not tax advice. It assumes an individual filer claiming the full age and child allowances, with no regional deductions and no other income. Figures are based on published 2025–2026 rates and may change. Spain Move HQ is not a tax advisor — please confirm your situation with a qualified gestor or tax professional.
